A lot of people say we need to return to the New Deal. Many seem to think if we could just go back to the policies put forth by the Roosevelt administration, everything would be great once again. Unfortunately this is not true. Our economy, demographics, and political systems have all been fundamentally changed at this point. The New Deal is now the Old Deal; it’s time to move forward, it is time for The Next Deal!
The Next Deal is broken down into three main sections. Democratic Reforms seek to return our government to the people by creating a true democratic republic with multiple parties and voices within government. The democratic reforms will end gerrymandering, create the full public financing of elections with no outside money allowed, break the political duopoly by allowing small parties to gain power through proportional representation and open debates, end lobbying as we know it, and make our voting procedures easier and more transparent for the public.
Our Economic Reforms aim to create a more equitable society in which everyone has a fair chance at a good life. The economic reforms will immediately refinance all student debt at 0% interest rates, make college tuition free for qualified students, make it easier to start new businesses, break up monopolies and trusts, reregulate monopoly industries as non profit worker co-ops or municipalities, end patent enforcement and create tariffs on companies who exploit cheap labor overseas, reestablish progressive income tax, abolish income tax for anyone making below $50,000 per year, institute a 1% Wall St sales tax, and nationalize the Federal Reserve returning monetary policy to the Treasury.
The Societal reforms we propose are designed to make sure everyone is treated equally under the law. We will immediately reestablish the Bill of Rights for all citizens, end police militarization, end the for profit prison industry, abolish prison slavery, return our educational system to the best in the world, end the drug war and legalize marijuana, institute a national maternity leave policy, radically change our foreign policy to promote peace abroad, move towards a renewable energy future with a pledge to create 50% of our energy through clean sources within a decade, rebuild and modernize our infrastructure, create a universal healthcare program and end pharmaceutical price gouging, reform our welfare programs to make them more sustainable, and restore the Clean Water Act.
This is just a brief overview of the Next Deal Platform. Please read each detailed policy point below, and let us know what you think! If you agree with most of these proposals, please share them with your family and friends. If we all work together, a better future is possible!

Fully fund our public media sources to eliminate the need of corporate funders. Reinstate the Fairness Doctrine.
